My Timerland Earthkeeper boots are well-made and comfortable. I returned the

first pair I ordered in my usual size, 9.5W, because the boots were a little too

big. I ordered a pair in 9W, which fit perfectly. The boots will not require a

break-in period because they are flexible right out of the box. The stitching is

even. I like wearing my new boots so much that I wear them at night when I am in

my pajamas. I've worn these boots on long hikes, traversing loose sand, rocky

outcrops, and steep hill sides. The soles grip loose surfaces well. I've

haven't slipped on granite or basalt rocks.

I recommend these boots because of the high quality, sturdy construction, and comfort.

This is a great looking book. The only warning I give to prospective buyers is that it runs large; larger than even regular Timberlands. I usually wear an 11.5 in Timberlands and got an 11 to be safe. Oddly this shoe was still larger than expected. I switched the insoles and they fit a little better but I think I would have been better off with a 10.5. Overall, though I love this boot even with them running large.

I love this boot. It is a great summer boot. Beware the boot is not waterproof as the description might lead you to believe. Splash proof, yes. But don't go stepping in any puddles, the tongue is not sewn in completly, as is neccessary for complete waterproofing. Boot is very comfortable right out of the box. This high of a boot could use a different lacing system at the top to facilitate taking on & off. If you can look past these things you will love the boot. Comfortable all day.

Great boots. They look good, esp. with jeans. They are considerably lighter than most Timberland boots----the sole is thinner and the interior doesn't have the usual thick lining. But the quality is still there and they are very comfortable.

Timberlands always run big on me, so I buy a half size smaller than my true size.

Overall the boots were great util you start to tighten the laces up, the first day I laced up the boots one of the eye loops popped out, I did call them and they said they would replace them but I would have to pay for shipping and that was going to cost me 35.25 to ship. So I took it to a boot shop and they repaired it for 3.50 about 2 weeks later another eye loop has popped out, I fell these boots were used before they loops should not even be popping out. So now I just purchased a new pair of tacticle boots for 125.00 and steele toes. Very unsatisfied.

Boots arrived as per order on time. Exactly as advertized. Im working on a concrete floor with a thin mat 8hrs per day. After only 1 day breakin boots worked great. Easy to get in. Good ankle support. My feet felt good after 8hrs. Boots not too heavy. Wish leather held a better shine. Like the tactical look. I take a 10W but gambeled and bought a 10 ( figured I could send it back if ill fit). Boots fit great. I have had better boots but at about 3 times the price. Like these boots as work boots so much Im ordering another pair to swap out for boots to last longer and be allowed to air out. Where I go hiking and back of home there can be snakes ( killed 2 prarie rattlesnakes), These boots are NOT recommended by me for hiking. Also NOT recommended by me for rain, snow,ice or extreme cold. I got a pair of good snake protection boots and another pair of waterproof boots for extreme cold. For a comfortable work boot these 8in. tactical zipper boots are GREAT.Recommend buying 2 pair to swap out.

"Good Hooch Boots" 2009-10-07

This boot is a lot like the jungle boots we were issued in the late 60's. If you wore those boots you will remember that it had a Kevlar inner sole that kept your foot up a bit out of the pool of sweat in the bottom of the boot and scupper holes at the instep to let your foot breathe. This one has neither of those features. It also lacks the thinsulate insulation that you may find in boots designed for a cooler climate.

You may also recall that some GI's who were want to hang out in the "V" had zippers installed in their boots when stationed in places where one did not wear footwear indoors. Because the Japanese word for house is "Uchi", we called them "hooch boots". There is a trade off in these boots. You can ladder lace a regular combat-boot so that it will support your ankle enough to do a PLF. But, you can't do it with this boot and still be able to use the zipper to get into them.

The top of the boot is heavily padded...so you might want to use blousing-rubbers to keep your shins from chafing. Other than that, and the need for insoles these are great boots!

Perhaps it is because they did not fit properly and I had to return them, but these were very uncomfortable boots. I bought the boots because of the positive reviews but cannot say I agree with what I read - this is a first. The support around the ankle was insufficient and too bulky. I walked around the house and already felt the rubbing. I did purchase a tactical boot from "Magnum" and they are awesome. So, perhaps these would have felt better had they fit, but I would not trade my "Magnums" for anything. Two weeks of construction and a 15 mile hike later: The "Magnums" are comfortable, offer great support, quite sturdy, and still look great.

I purchased the Teva Dozer Sandal as a replacement for a much beloved pair of water/hiking sandals that were hard to find and much more expensive. For the price, the Teva Dozer are worth it, however, they do not seem to be as solid and durable and my old sandals, thus the rating of 3 stars. As a nice, run around town and beach sandal, they are worth the price, but I am not comfortable taking them into the hills on a prolonged hike.

I bought these shoes so I could have something comfortable at work and out of work. (I have a semi-casual job) These shoes are like wearing nothing at all.

I have worn them for 8+ hours in Mexico, 8+ hours in warm/cold/wet weather and 5+ hours hiking. I had only slight irritation from one of the sides rubbing on my ankle when I was hiking, but I was in varied terrain and weather, other than that, no issues anywhere/anytime.

I get more compliments on these shoes than I do dress shoes. Buy these or any Teva product and you will not regret your decision!

I work for a lumber company and have worn work boots for the past 30 years.

I use to buy the cheaper boots found in most chain type stores. I decided I wanted to find a true WATERPROOF work boot. I went to a speciality store that carried a large varity of waterproof boots. I need a wide width and they could be hard to find.

The Timberland Chocurua Trail boots fit great & were extremly comfortable right out of the box. No need to break them in. I wore them 10 hours the 1st day with no discomfort what so ever.

The 1st week I had walked thru a large mudhole so when I got home I pulled out the garden hose and sprayed the entire boot down. No water seepage. I thought for sure my feet would get a little wet but that wasn't the case.

I wore these for about a year and I'm now on my second pair. As they say you get what you pay for.

If your looking for a true waterproof boot with great comfort kick out the few extra bucks and give these a try. You won't be disappointed.

Okay I have bought two different versions of this shoe one in black the other in brown leather with green nylon. Both were incredibly comfortable. I loved them for the time I could wear them. However, that was only for four days. Seems in order to save some money (on a 120 dollar shoe this amazed me) Timberland decided to use bent metal eyelets for the shoe strings on the lower half of the shoe rather than a more durable cast eyelets or simple punched eyelets. Note I'm not talking about the hooks on the upper half but the lower portion. After wearing them for four days the eyelet broke at one of the bends. This type of quality fits well for the 50$ or under crowd but the 100$ or higher I just couldn't believe it. Also, note this was the second pair not the first, as the first one came with the eyelet already broken. They were so comfortable that I gave them a second chance. Unless Timberland replaces my eyelets with cast ones I'll be returning these and won't be giving them a third chance. These boots are for those trendy types who want to look like the outdoors type at the clubs but are not for the outdoors. Stay away from these boots as your hiking could be ruined if the eyelets fail at a bad time.

Side note I've been wearing Timberland workbooks for the past 6 months with punched eyelets and have had no problems.

"So Far So Good..." 2009-11-05

I bought a pair of Merrell Chameleon Evos 5 weeks ago and had been using them 4 or 5 days a week on the treadmill (hour each session) and a couple of times a week at Thunderbird Park here in Glendale, AZ. The terrain there is usually hot with very sharp and jagged rocks attacking your feet/shoes from every direction. I hike hard and run for about 45 minutes when I go there. The Chameleon Evos were doing great, very grippy and comfortable, lightweight but protective and very breathable. Then yesterday the sole started falling apart on me. Big chunks of tread ripped off and another chunk dangling. I took them back to the store and fortunately they said they could defect them back to Merrell and give me a store credit, but that the fact of the matter was probably more likely the Evos weren't designed for such hardcore abuse. I looked around at what else they had and settled on these Moabs. I got the gore-tex because I'm going to be running around in wet canyons up in the Mogollon Rim country in the summer with them and taking trips back home to Michigan. Anyway, I have only had these for a day now but the salesman said he thought the soles of these were stiffer and had a higher carbon content than the Evos and might last me better. We'll see, I'll drop some comments to this review after I've had a chance to put them through the paces and see how they handle the punishment. I love Merrell and hope these are the ones for me!

I've just about worn out a pair of the non-Gore-tex Moab Ventilators. When I head to the door to hike or walk the dogs, they are the ones I always grab. 5 other pairs of hiking shoes, and these always go out the door with me. Heaven knows how many miles they've got on them. I have a wide foot and this last in "wide" just fits. Very durable -- very comfortable.

The Gore-tex version fits the same. They feel lighter. They really haven't required any break-in. I hope Merrill keeps making these for a LONG time!

I bought these boots to replace my three year old boots that I had bought to replace my summer weight non waterproof boots that I still have and use if I know water won't be involved. All the boots I have bought in the last 5 years have been Hi-Tec. They fit and feel like a sneaker once you get them broken in. I am in the process of breaking these new ones in, it has only been two days so they are still a little stiff. I figure that by next week I will be good to go in these. I use these for work, daily wear, hiking, walking, walking in rain, steeping in streams, walking in snow, mowing the lawn, using the snowblower, snowshoeing, and they work great with my yak-trax when I walk on ice. The only reason I replaced my old ones is because they were starting to leak water when I submerged them for more than a few seconds. Great boots, I don't regret any pair of Hi-Hec's I ever bought.

"Awesome...BUT...two things to consider." 2009-11-04

I love these sandals.

- They are very rugged.

- The snug, secure fit over the foot and around the ankle paired with the unique toe space (see caveat below) matches my preferred fit for a shoe.

- The foot bed has just that right amount of cushion and comfort while still feeling solid and stable. They really hit the "magic" mix on this.

- The bolstering around the heel and arch eliminates side to side movement creating a very stable feel about these shoes.

- The hybrid nature of these shoes causes me to reach for them FAR more often than my sandals or hiking/walking shoes. Have you ever tried to run in sandals? How long does it take to dry hiking shoes after a wade?

Now to my small caveats:

1. It may be just that I have an abnormally tall big-toe, but I could stand just one more millimeter of space in the toe well over the top. In fact, the first time I bought a pair of these, I had to return them after a couple days because my toenail just-barely touched the top of the toe well and made me nuts. Eventually I found a pair that had just that tiny bit of extra space and I snatched them up. This brings me to my second caveat.

2. You wouldn't expect it, but the size variation across styles and even within the same style is pretty significant. I was sure I would never be able to own a pair of Keens because of the toe fit thing. When I found them on sale recently, I decided to have another try. To my surprise, I found a pair of original Newport in 10.5 (my size) that fit AWESOME with no toe problems...But they were leather, which I didn't want, and they were just the most ridiculous light green color. Next I tried the H2s with nylon straps. The first 10.5 was way too small, for fun I tried two other 10.5s, all of which felt like they were different sizes. Then I tried an 11. These were too big by a long-shot. I was ready to leave when I tried an 11.5 on a whim and they fit perfectly...

I think you need to try these shoes on before you buy. I buy everything I can online, but in the case of Keen shoes, I would be really hesitant.

I saw them at REI, bought them, and liked them so much that I went back the next day while they were still on sale and got a second pair. I wanted to be able to rotate them. But, the threads in the ankle patch came undone. REI gave me a brand new pair right then and there. Now, it is happening again with the other original pair, both shoes, same seam! They need to use a much more beefy thread. I hate to have to drive all the way across town and back to exchange shoes.

They are very comfortable, cool and give excellent grip.

I was skeptical at first, and the fact that these are a little pricey didn't help, but now that I am wearing them, I have no regrets at all. I was having major knee and back problems for the past year, and as it turns out, I have falling arches that were causeing me to walk improperly. These arch supports have helped me to correct my walking posture, and have alleviated most of my pain. They were uncomfortable at first as my high arches had fallen and weren't used to being properly supported, but after a week the pain in my feet went away gradually, and my back and my knees were doing much better than before. I would recommend these to anyone with high arches.

*Also, the product recommends removing your shoes soles before putting these in. The soles on my shoes were very flat, and I was able to leave them in, and put the new insoles right on top.*

"Superfeet Green really work - even for plantar fasciitis" 2009-11-03

I have plantar fasciitis - at its worst, it feels like a hot spike driving up my heel. No fun at all, but I work "on my feet" as a presenter, really enjoy walking, birding etc. and work out six days a week, including using a challenging program on the treadmill.

I've tried a number of shoe inserts offered over the counter - the gel-filled and "gooey" ones do not work at all, and many others do not work nor do they last. Superfeet are significantly more expensive than most of these - but they are very durable, and they work.

When you trim these properly and first use them, it may feel like the arch support is too far back for proper support, but it is precisely this positioning, plus the rigidity of the plastic insert, that help position the foot properly. My podiatrist approves of these, and Kaiser Permanente, my health provider, sells these. In the end, the Superfeet green make it once again a pleasure to work out and enjoy the wonderful outdoors, and help eliminate plantar fasciitis from my experience. Definitely worth the price, and I have several sets trimmed to fit the shoes I use to work, work out and walk.

N.B. Get some good, supportive slippers or flats to use when you might otherwise use non-support slippers or go barefoot. These will definitely help as well.

Because of a job that required me to stand on concrete for 12 hours a day, I have/had a variety of problems with my feet, ankles, knees and back.

Within 2 months of starting the job I had plantar fasciitis. I bought some powerstep pinnacle insoles and those, combined with stretching exercises, healed my PF within a month. It has not come back since.

However I still had other problems. The Powersteps were great, but I would occasionally hear and feel a clicking sound in my back and right leg when I walked. I had no idea what that was about.

I decided to switch to superfeet green insoles and when I put them on I felt they did a much better job of aligning my legs. The heel cup feels deeper and more supportive, and my legs felt more aligned. I noticed that, so far (its only been a month) I have not noticed the clicking sound/feeling since I started wearing these. I hope this keeps up.

So I am happy. I have heard from other reviewers that these things last a year or more. But I've only used mine for a month, so I really don't know.

I bought these for nike air shoes that were not comfortable enough. It was quick and easy to replace the old insoles with these and have not had any problems with them since. I purchased the 12/13 for mens and did not have to cut, adjust it. Many people say you should put the insoles into the oven to warm them up... I think simply putting them into the shoes and letting them mold due to your foot's heat is just enough. Good insoles, I will buy another pair for my other shoes.

These are by far the best insoles I have used. I've tried the cheap-o products from local drug stores and they don't come close. I got a size 12 and didn't need to try the custom molding option, they work great on their own! I haven't had any of the reported squeaking problems, so no complaints here!

These are great for feet that aren't so great. They have been pretty durable for my use and they just work. The "sorb" works OK for a while, but nothing is perfect. They will get old just like any other insoles, but so far have lasted better than the shoes they are in. The hiker version also works well.

After posting this, I read the review which said that after some time the heel padding broke down and causes a bump which irritated the author's heel. I use mine with theTuli's Classic Heel Cups, Regular (Under 175lbs) which are also great, and with that combo have never had any such heel problems (the tulis come in two sizes though depending on weight).

With some shopping around these can be found for less.

I am a professional tennis coach and player. On my feet a lot feeding balls and observing. I also play competitive tennis in the USTA leagues so I need tennis shoes that are both comfortable and supportive. They don't make those, so I end up putting orthotics in my shoes trying to achieve the best of both worlds. Custom ones can run more than $100 and up. I tested 3 brands of DIY semi-custom ones that are heat mold-able. The best have been the Spenco. I will be buying 3 more sets.

Note: My feet are high arch, narrow heel. The heel cup is the best on the Spenco.

I went through 2 pairs of these hiking on snowy trails (one I purchased, the second set was given to me by the store after the first set broke early on). Worked great the first outing, then started to slip off by the second outing. I was having to adjust them every fifty yards because they would not stay in place on my boots. I tried making a velcro strap like the 'Pro' versions, but that didn't help. Then the flimsy rubber/plastic broke.

I eventually spent almost 3 times as much for Stablicers. Worth every penny. 4 icy day hikes with them, and no trouble at all. Heavier, but they really work.

The yak traks are very helpful when crossing sidewalks, and streets. You still have to be a litle careful when walking but they give you more confidence. They do prevent slipping on ice coated driveways

Once I got the devices onto my New Balance Shoes they really worked. No more slipping when getting the paper - which is the reason I bought them in the first place.

The only cons were untwisting them from the package. What do I mean? They are twisted/compressed for shipping purposes. It is like undoing a snarl. Once you get past the unsnarling, then you have to figure out how to pull them over your the soles of your shoes.

However, these things work and I highly recommend them. Oh yes, I do not remove them from my NBs I just put the shoes on when there are slippery conditions. I don't want to wrestle them off the shoes and then have to put them back on.

But, as I wrote before, they really work and I would buy them again. No more falling down!

Had the original Yaxtrax, and had occasional issues with them coming off particularly in tough terrain. These solve the isse and are more robust too.
